Electric heating

Electric heating in detail

Electric direct heating is a simple, robust and compact solution for drying shoes, gloves and smaller items of equipment. Heating is provided by heating rods or plates – usually without air circulation. Ideal for areas with low temperatures or limited space.

Functionality

In electrically heated dryers, the items to be dried are heated directly by heating rods, heating plates or heating coils.
In contrast to hot air or condensation systems, no active air circulation is generated.

Technical features:

  • No fans
  • Localized heat radiation
  • Direct heating via integrated radiators
  • Function from approx. 7 °C room temperature

Advantages & limits

Advantages:

  • Compact design – ideal when space is limited

  • Robust, low-maintenance technology

  • Independent of air routing or room ventilation

  • Inexpensive to purchase and retrofit

Limits:

  • No active air circulation → longer drying time

  • Not suitable for drying large areas of clothing

Areas of application

Typical applications:

  • Shoe dryers in workshops, ski rooms or private entrance areas
  • Drying gloves, helmets or small textiles
  • Wall-mounted dryer rails or heating panels
  • Combination with changing room benches or wall brackets

Frequently asked questions

How does drying work without a fan?

The integrated heating elements transfer heat directly to the environment or the dry goods – usually by convection or contact.

Is electric heating safe for leather or rubber?

Yes – when used properly. However, direct contact with very hot surfaces should be avoided.

What is the advantage over warm air systems?

The technology is simpler, cheaper and low-maintenance – ideal for shoe or helmet dryers with low energy requirements.
